Sun Kings Cut Ron Artest's Brother, Ex-Zag Eaton Makes Roster
YAKIMA, Wash. - Ron Artest's younger brother Daniel won't suit up for the Sun Kings when Yakama opens the season on Friday night. Daniel Artest (see: Artest Tries Out For Sun Kings) was one of four cuts as the Sun Kings trimmed their roster to eleven.
Along with Artest, the team cut Blake Walker, AJ Millien, and Jahmal Rich.Yakama will dress ten players on Friday night. Elvin Mims, a holdover from last year's team, will start the season on injured reserve.
Ralphie Holmes and Richard Dionne will also return for a second season with the Sun Kings. Pig Miller, who joined Yakama late last year, is also expected to be added to the team. There's no timetable for Miller's return.
"Pig's on Pig's schedule," joked Sun Kings head coach Paul Woolpert.
Former Gonzaga Bulldog Jeremy Eaton will be one of the new faces on the Sun Kings. Eaton played on the 1999 Gonzaga team that reached the Elite Eight. At 6'11, he'll be the tallest player for Yakama on opening night.
The Sun Kings tip off the new season Friday night at 7:00 PM from the Sun Dome against the Great Falls Explorers. The team will unveil the 2005-2006 championship banner and there will also be a presentation of the championship rings.
