Custody Battle Continues For Naches Families

NACHES, Wash. - The family of a local woman allegedly murdered earlier this month is now fighting a bitter custody battle.

23-year-old Rebecca Tatum was shot and killed November 5 and her two children reportedly witnessed it.

Her boyfriend, 25-year-old Michael Spencer, is now charged with murder.

Their two children -- two and four years old -- were staying with Tatum's parents.

But a judge granted custody to Spencer's parents on Tuesday.

"As her children's grandparents of Peyton Reid and Summer Sue, we have now lost our last link to our daughter," Rebecca's father, James Tatum said.

He also said the judge took his grandchildren away from him because he has schizophrenia.

He's planning to hire a new lawyer and continue to fight for custody.

The Yakima County prosecutor's office said bail has been reduced for Spencer, from $1,000,000 to $50,000.
