Eagles Suffer First Loss of Season in State Championships

TACOMA, Wash - The Connell Eagles went to the Tacoma Dome hoping to come home as the number one 1-A team in the state; Meridian forced them to come home with the second place trophy. Meridian jumped out with the early 14-0 lead, but the Eagles fought back and regained the lead 22-21 going into the fourth quarter. Meridian was able to score with just :30 left on the clock making it a 5 point game. Connell drove down the field and with just :05 left Spencer Hadley makes a beautiful catch and gets pushed out of bounds at the one-and-a-half yard line as time expired. The Eagles suffer their first loss of the season today, while Meridian goes 14-0 and becomes this year's 1-A state champions.
