Burglars break in and steal a safe from Waffle's Cafe
YAKIA, Wash -- When Barbara Door arrived at Waffle's Cafe and Restaurant for work this morning she thought it would be like any busy Sunday morning. But it wasn't.
"All the lights were on," said Door. "We were kind of freaked out about that. The office's door was open, lights on and there was all of the computer system and stuff spread all over the floor."
According to Door, buglers stole a four hundred pound safe that was bolted to the ground --containing over $4,000.00 They also stole a fax machine, food and a collection box for a gentleman we were trying to raise money for that has terminal cancer.
Door called police at 6 a.m., and then a half hour later. But police didn't arrive until about 7:30.
Once there, the officer took a statement from Door and the cook, gave them a case number and left. Never brushing for fingerprint or taking photos of the graffiti on the walls or trailer.
"It seemed pointless for them to come out."
A police official said that when they received the call at 5:50 a.m. all officers were engaged and could not be dispatched to Waffle's.
