PULLMAN, Wash. - Derrick Low scored 22 points tonight as Washington State upset 18th-ranked Gonzaga, 77-to-67.
Daven Harmeling added 20 points for Washington State, which at 8-and-1 is off to its best start since the 1996-97 season. The win also broke the Cougars' seven-game losing streak to Gonzaga. Gonzaga was led by Josh Heytvelt's 22 points. Derek Raivio added 21 as the Bulldogs fell to 8-and-2. Washington State was trailing 66-to-63 with less than 4 minutes left, but then outscored Gonzaga 14-to-1 for the win. The run included a pair of 3-pointers by Harmeling.
