KENNEWICK, Wash.- The Port of Kennewick is getting help with the remodel at the Clover Island Marina.
A grant from the state is helping fund some of the project.
The nearly $240,000, money they'll use to help fund a nearly $9 million renovation project.
The state awarded the money in an effort to help local communities provide better facilities for boaters.
The Port will use the grant to overhaul much of the marina and add six new slips.
Officials say the award eases pressure for local funding.
"The grant is crucial for this project, cost of the overall marina rebuild is substantial and any funds that we could receive from outside of the district is helpful," said Larry Peterson with the Port of Kennewick.
Six organizations around the state received money, including Benton City.
They got about $120,000 to help expand boating in the area.
