KENNEWICK, Wash - New Fever head coach Tony Wells made a stop in the Tri-Cities today. Wells is extremely excited about being here to talk with the old team and to get the lay of the land. He said, "I'm like a kid in a candy store!" Wells has been able to look at some tape of some players from this past year and says Hodges and Childs are two of the one he really wants to have on his team. He also told us that former Fever quarterback Doug Coleman, who was originally named the new head coach, will not be coaching with the team as an assistant. Coleman simply can't make the financial sacrifice. Wells added that he is very happy with the foundation of the team he is inheriting and will keep most of his veterans, adding rookies to fill some holes.
Wells said being a coach isn't the tough part of his job, it's getting used to our cold weather! Wells is moving from Miami, Florida, and says when the sun is out it isn't too bad, but once the wind gets going he starts getting a bit chilly. Just wait for spring Coach!
