A latino acting star visits the Tri-Cities, bringing with him a movie about Mexican-American's fight for equal rights.
Olmos stars in Walkout, a movie showing the dramatic Mexican American walkouts of 1968. The East L.A. protesters wanted equal justice and better school conditions. Olmos says that the student activists in the movie learn about themselves and about standing up for what they believe in. Olmos said people that saw it today at the WSU Tri-Cities were deeply moved.
Olmos said, "I think they were taken aback by this because they weren't necessarily taught about it, their learning about their history and their culture. They were excited and they were proud. They were really moved by what they had just scene."
Walkout is directed by Olmos' father, Edward, a well-known actor. There is another opportunity to see Walkout tomorrow at 3 p-m. It is at John Dam Plaza in Richland.
