YAKIMA, Wash -- For years the Yakima Cellars has been a traditional winery. However, its new owners hope to make it more than just a traditional tasting room.
Matt Gray, the owner, and his manager, Trisha Franklin, are adding new products and services in hopes of broadening their clientele.
They want to create more of a lounge environment, and are adding large couches and comfortable chairs, offering Internet service, selling cappuccinos, and are adding a dessert menu.
Wine of course will still be served but they hope to attract newer younger customers that visit throughout the day and night, and aren't there just for wine.
"When people are on their lunch break they can use the Internet," said Franklin. "And then after work, if they want somewhere where they can meet up with people, they can come in and sit and listen to music, and have somewhere to go that's now the bar scene."
The renovation are already underway and customers will begin to see a taste of the new lounge during several upcoming events.
