KENNEWICK, Wash. - Early Saturday morning a car was stolen after the owner left it running outside of his apartment. It happened on South Olympia in Kennewick.
Police said Joshua Smith stole the car. An eyewitness said Smith tried to sell him the car in Kennewick.
The witness called 911. Smith was taken to the Benton County Jail.
Kennewick Police Officer Roman Trujillo said, "It really surprises me that someone would leave something so valuable with the keys in the ignition, unlocked and also with other valuable items inside."
It is against city ordinance to leave your car while it is running. Three cars were spotted running Saturday morning alone and the owners were all cited.
