Snoqualmie Pass To Get Heavy Snow
YAKIMA, Wash. - Another round of high winds and snow are in the forecast for Snoqualmie Pass on Thursday.
With the Seattle Seahawks hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night, drivers traveling over the pass should prepare for heavy traffic and potential closures.
Preparation is the most important thing to remember when traveling over the pass.
Department of Transportation officials said the passes are expected to receive large amounts of snow on Thursday and Friday. The DOT is putting out additional plow crews to help with the snow conditions.
Now if tire chains are required to travel over the passes, chain installers will be on hand to install tire chains on cars and trucks for a fee.
The DOT expects a heavy flow of traffic on Snoqualmie pass due to the Seahawks game. However, one person from Yakima won't be heading over to watch his favorite team play.
"Even if I had Seahawks tickets, I wouldn't risk it, there's other Seahawks games that's gonna be happening," Terrell Cox said. "It's not just one, you know."
And here's a few tips to keep you safe if you plan on driving over Snoqualmie Pass.
-Check the department of transportation's Web site for both traffic alerts and updated weather conditions.
-A helpful tool is dialing 511 for highway traveler information.
-And most importantly, travel over the pass only if you have to.
