Outlook Elementary School Classes Canceled Due to Fire

OUTLOOK, WA - Over fifty firefighters from across Yakima and the Lower Valley are fighting a fire at the Outlook Elementary School on 3800 Van Belle Road in Outlook, Washington.

The school is part of the Sunnyside School District. District 5 firefighters said a fire alarm went off at the school and when crews arrived on scene they saw flames coming from the building.

The Red Cross is on their way to the scene to help feed crews from Prosser, Toppenish, Grandview, Union Gap, Naches Heights and East Valley Fire Departments. The school has been on fire for several hours.

So far, firefighters are not saying what they believe the cause to be.

The Sunnyside School District announces classes are cancelled for students at Outlook Elementary School on Monday and Tuesday. Winter break begins on Wednesday.

If parents cannot find alternate child care, they can drop their children off at Lincoln Gym at 1110 South 6th Street in Sunnyside during school hours on Monday and Tuesday for free child supervision.
