CBC Hopes to Bounce Back From Last Year Disappointment
PASCO, Wash - Last year the Columbia Basin College Men's Basketball team finished with a record of 9-11, therefore they didn't qualify for the N.W.A.A.C. tournament. However, that wasn't the part that hurt the worst. C.B.C. hosted the tournament last year, and didn't even get to play in it. Sophomore guard Christian Hammond says it was pretty much embarassing: "I had a lot of friends coming over to play in the tournament and they were like, hey we're coming to your side of town, where are you? That left a bad taste in my mouth." And when the Hawks lost their first game of the season after being up by twenty over Walla Walla, the players decided they wouldn't let last season happen again.
Now the Hawks have pulled a complete 180. After that loss to Walla Walla, C.B.C. has won 12 straight games and boast the N.W.A.A.C.'s best record at 12-1. They also just won their Crossover Tournament, which boosts their confidence even more. The Hawks hope to extend their streak to 13 when they host Blue Mountain Community College on January 3rd.
