Mid-Columbia Library System Introduces Fees for Non-Residents

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Mid-Columbia Library System is introducing a new fee for non-residents of its service area.  The $30 annual fee takes effect February 1st.

There are exemptions available; students attending school in the area may be exempt, as are volunteers at the library.

Library officials note that a similar fee is required at the Richland Public Library and at other libraries across the state.  The $30 fee was selected because that is about the average total property owners pay in property tax for library service.
