RICHLAND, Wash.- Hanford workers get four tons of turkeys and thousands of pounds of food loaded up in Kennewick Tuesday morning headed for local food banks.
The food was also donated by Hanford employees.
They've made the donations for 21 years.
The food was packed on trucks, vans and two coast guard boats on trailers.
It's spurred by the holiday season, but they say help is always needed.
"I think we need to remember that you could have a food drive, a coat drive almost every week, particularly during the cold weather and you still couldn't meet the need here in this area," said John Umbarger, an official with Fluor Hanford.
The food was delivered to 20 food banks this afternoon.
It's believed about 2,000 people will benefit from the donations.
