YAKIMA, Wash. - Good news for more than 200 Yakima-area mill workers on Tuesday.
Senator Maria Cantwell helped former employees of the Yakima Resources Mill gain eligibility for job retraining assistance through the Trade Adjustment Act.
Former workers of the mill had petitioned for help following news that the mill would close.
This summer, their request was denied, but with Cantwell's support, the workers appealed the decision, leading to the reversal of the outcome.
The program provides retraining and reemployment help to workers who lose their jobs as a result of increased foreign imports.
