Union Representing Laid Off Mill Workers Says Trade Act is Big Help
YAKIMA, Wa - The union representing laid off mill workers from the Yakima Resources Plywood Mill says Trade Act certification will help them move forward with their lives.
Senator Maria Cantwell announced that 251 laid off mill workers will receive assistance from the Trade Act. They had been rejected two previous times by the labor department.
Trade act will give laid off mill workers financial assistance for up to two years if they go back to school. They'll also receive a health care tax credit for two years. Yakima Resources closed the plywood mill in early August.
