YAKIMA, Wash - When it snow, business is good for snow removal companies.
But for Scott St. John, of DPR Contracting, a remodeling and construction company, snow removal is only a small part of his business. "I don't rely on this as a primary income."
The reason, according to St. John, is the unpredictability of winter weather. One winter might have lots of snow, but the next two might be dry. Snow removal can be very profitable but it is not a constant source of revenue, like home building or remodeling.
"This winter has been good so far," said St John. However, it could stop snowing and then business would literally dry up.
