Kennewick Couple First-time Hydro Owners
KENNEWICK, Wash - Atomic Screen Printing owners Greg and Lora Walden are now the proud owners of the Unlimited Light, UL-14 Hydroplane! The Waldens are also now the only unlimited light hydroplane team owners in the Tri-Cities.
Greg and Lora may be new to hydroplane ownership, but they've been around the sport for years! In fact, they first met at a hydro race when Lora was just 13 years old! Their daughter Lacey is also very excited about the big purchase.
Greg's original interest was in stock car racing. He worked with some of the big names like Greg Biffle before they went big time in NASCAR. So when the car racing track was shut down in the Tri-Cities, Greg sold his car. The very next day, he bought the UL-14.
It's an old boat the Walden's have purchased, but it did finish third in the points race last year. Also, Greg and Lora say they want to start small, get their feet wet (no pun intended) and work their way up into the higher classes of boats. Of course, there's always the small particulars about owning a new hydro. For example, what color should they make it? Lacey suggested hot pink, while Greg is leaning towards a fluorescent green. Greg also said that he should be announcing his new driver within the next month.
