YAKIMA, Wash -- Sexually transmitted diseases are on the rise in Yakima County.
After several years of declining or stabilizing rates, Chlamyidia and Gonorrhea are increasing.
Reported cases of Chlamyidia are 10% higher this year than in 2005. Most infections, and the highest rates occur among adolescents and adults 15-24 years.
Gonorrhea is also more prevalent. There have been 156 reported cases to-date for 2006. A jump of about 20%.
