DOT Crews Working Overtime to Clear Roads

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash. - Monday night's freezing rain sent workers from the Department of Transportation into overdrive causing them to work through the night.  DOT workers were expecting weather conditions Tuesday but as soon as the freezing rain started falling Monday they jumped into action.

State Patrol Troopers said around 6 o'clock Monday evening they saw seven wrecks on Northbound 395 near Connell within minutes of each other.  As soon as the rain hit the frozen road DOT workers started spreading a salt mixture to melt the ice.

The scenes of the crashes were quickly cleared allowing the solid de-icer to be applied to the roads right away.  Troopers said one person was hurt on Northbound 395 but the six others were very lucky to escape this freezing rain without any injuries.
