WASHINGTON - Dieters counting on products like Cortislim and Trimspa may be in for a disappointment.
The Federal Trade commission said the marketers have been making false advertising claims.
The FTC has slapped 25 million dollars worth of fines on the companies, along with the marketers of One a Day Weight Smart and Xenadrine EFX.
The products are supposed to help with everything from quick weight loss to reducing the risk of cancer and Alzheimer's.
According to the Feds, there has to be science to back up marketing claims but there is not, yet customers will still find them on store shelves.
The FTC said it is not in the business of banning them.
