With holiday shopping comes holiday bills and many people are forgetting to check their bank statements.
When they finally do, some may be unhappy. Local banks recommend that you check your statements regularly, but they say it is even more important when holiday bills come rolling in.
Bank officials say that if you don't, it could cause you a lot of trouble as you may miss a charge on your account that shouldn't be there.
DeeLynn Purdy of Banner Bank says, "I would say when you look at your statement on a monthly basis have your check register there where you've documented the purchases that you've made or have your receipts handy to make sure the purchases you made are your own."
Local banks say to call your bank immediately if you don't understand a charge. They also that a credit or bank card is easier to track in case of fraudulent charges.
