Man Approaches Children
TRI-CITIES, Wash. - Kennewick Police said an older man approached a 12-year-old girl on Thursday morning while she was waiting for a bus at the Huntington Transfer Station in Kennewick. She was waiting for the bus to take her to school.
Authorities said the man asked her to skip school and go with him. The girl declined and the man got onto another bus.
Police believe there might be a connection between the bus transfer station cases and other situations involving a man driving in a white van.
Recently, two girls were approached by a man in the Yokes parking lot in Kennewick. They told police he beeped his horned and followed them.
Hermiston Police reported similar situations involving a man driving a white van. The suspect asked a number of children to get into his van. Hermiston Police said their situations have taken place over the last few months.
Police warn parents to talk to their kids about the dangers of strangers. They advise parents to tell children to yell, kick, scream and make as much noise as possible is someone is trying to kidnap them. Police also said to report incidents as soon as possible.
