KENNEWICK, Wash. - It was built as a memorial for parents who lost unborn children but thieves stole a three foot tall bronze statue from the Kennewick General Hospital Little Hearts Remembrance Garden from a graveyard near 10th and Union.
There is a $500 reward leading to the arrest of the people responsible.
Police found the statue a few block from the graveyard with serious damage. Hospital Officials said the statue is valued at $16,000. Many people from the community helped build the memorial and are terribly upset by the news.
Kennewick General Hospital Foundation President Mike McWhorter said, "This was a very special place for mothers, fathers, grandparents and friends because of a lost loved one. It wasn't just a statue, it's what the whole thing represented."
The statue is being held in a nearby funeral home waiting to be repaired. KGH Foundation President said it should be fixed by this spring.
Anyone one with information should contact Kennewick Police.
