Suspected Armed Robber is Caught a Block Away from Crime Scene

KENNEWICK, Wash. - A clerk working a night shift at Discount Video off of Morain Street in Kennewick looked up to see a man holding a silver colored pistol at him late Saturday evening.

The suspect demanded cash from the Kennewick business, then took of running.

"There were so many officers and troopers it was going to be hard for this one to get away," said Washington State Patrol Trooper David Brandt.

The suspect was caught and wrestled to the ground after Brandt spotted him running across the parking lot near Jackson's Sports Bar.

The employee at the video store identified the gunman once he was arrested.

As soon as the 911 call came in, a Kennewick Police K-9 unit was on scene helping track down where that suspect went.  The K-9 tracked the suspect running through the KNDU-TV parking lot then into the Skippers restaurant parking lot.  He got less than a block away before troopers spotted him.

Late Saturday night Kennewick Police were still looking for the silver hand gun used in the hold-up along with the suspect's car.
