Group Offers Support to Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
YAKIMA, Wash. - A group called Kinship Caregivers is helping to offer support to grandparents raising their grandchildren. The first "Kinship Parent Support Group" meeting was held Monday at noon, at Morning Star Worship Center on North 4th Street in Yakima.
Organizers plan to hold the next meeting on January 22nd, same time and place. Anybody raising a relative's child is invited.
The group hopes to eventually start a resource center, they're just waiting for someone to donate a house or building. Many of the grandparents who attended say they just need support from one another. They're going through the same struggles, and having trouble finding the resources they need.
