KENNEWICK, Wash. - As strong winds rip across the state, insurance experts want you to be prepared.
Winds killed power to 21,000 people in Central Washington Sunday. When those winds blow over into the Columbia Basin the insurance savvy want you to be ready.
To avoid hassles with your claim. File early, experts claim have an adjuster inspect your home, don't let minor damage turn into something bigger, and most important, take inventory of your belongings before the winds blow in.
"Their number one goal is to try to get back up on their feet as quickly as possible and having that home inventory will help their adjustor get them to that point," said Darrin Sanger, NW Insurance Council.
If wind damage gets so bad you have to move into a motel, Sanger recommends keep all your receipts they're probably covered too.
