A meeting in Prosser Thursday night reminds us just how terrible school violence can be and how students can have a big impact on preventing it in the future.
The speech called "Rachel's Challenge" specifically reminds us of the tragedy of Rachel Scott and the other students killed at Columbine High School.
But just a week ago, we had school violence much closer to home. Last Wednesday, a shooting at Foss High School in Tacoma killed a 17-year-old in the school halls.
So tonight's meeting in Prosser reminded parents and kids that school violence is an issue at every school and that how student's treat others is important.
Prosser High Principal Kevin Lusk says that he feels lucky that Prosser students get along so well, despite the wide variety of students. But, he says it never hurts to remind them about reaching out to all students.
