The U-21 building project is well underway. The Freedom Racing Team's electronic monthly update says the bottom panel and frames have been cut out and the cockpit has been cut to fit the boat.
Crew Chief Kevin Bruan is doing much of the machine work. He's says the line blocks that hold the propeller shaft in place on the bottom of the boat and seal op water are complete. The extra thickness of alinumin to increase strnegth, known as "doublers," are on the enginer stringers. "Everything is very time consuming," Braun says.
The team is still confident the new and improved U-21 will be on the water when the 2007 race season starts at the end of June.
