Police Not At Fault For Shooting Death of Yakima Man

YAKIMA, Wash. - The Yakima County prosecutor has ruled that Yakima Police were justified in shooting and killing a suspect.

Adam Caywood died last month from gunshots fired by two Yakima police officers, after he allegedly broke into a home on South 10th Avenue.

Caywood led police on a chase through downtown Yakima in a stolen pick-up truck.

The chase ended when Caywood crashed the truck into the front yard of a home near Sixth Avenue and "D" Street.

Police say the two officers -- sergeant Chad Stephens and officer Ryan Urlacher opened fire after Caywood tried to run over an officer.

Stephens and Urlacher were put on paid administrative leave until this afternoon's ruling.
