KENNEWICK, Wash. - The man who made a bomb, that exploded at Kennewick's Highlands Middle School back on New Year's Day 2001, is now behind bars.
Thursday Kennewick Police Detectives arrested 23-year-old Michael Resen-Pickrell. Detectives believe he caused the explosion that destroyed a school garbage can, blew out windows, and started a fire.
The case ran cold for five years, but detectives said a tip just after Christmas helped them find their man.
"I appreciate the calls that the citizen's call into the department. Every one is followed up on and sometimes things pan out," said Detective Mike Hamilton, Kennewick Police Department.
Thursday police took Resen-Pickrell to the Benton County Justice Center. He's being held on probable cause for 1st degree arson.
