Icy Roads Make Big Business
KENNEWICK, Wash. - Ice and snow are creating big business for Tri-City auto body shops. The snow on Tuesday caused nearly 200 accidents. Now car owners are taking them in to get things fixed.
With nearly 200 hundred accidents those cars have to go somewhere. A lot of cars got towed in right away, but a wave of fender benders have yet to come in.
The owner of Clearwater Collision & Towing LLC said since Tuesday he's seen double the number tow-ins. And by next week he expects an additional 15 or 20 car owners will call in to get some work done.
He said in this industry work can change overnight.
"For the snow and the ice that happens in one day it'll create 30 days worth of work for us in the collision business," said Timothy Dean, Clearwater Collision & Towing LLC.
Some cars have a few bumps and bruises, others look like they need major surgery.
If you're one of the 200 people yet to bring in your smash in for a repair, Dean said you first need a claim number from your insurance carrier, and the name of your insurance adjuster.
