Check Fraud Bust in Prosser

McCorkle's Market owner Jim McCorkle says that theft at his store happens all too often.

McCorkle says that two people came into his business last week and tried to cash a payroll check from Lasko Eectric Company. The electric company then called them and said that the check had been stolen out of the mail.

Then, the two thieves came back into the store again and tried to use another Lasko Check. They had copied the check and were trying to pull the same theft again. This time though, he and his wife called the sherriff.

Sherriff's deputies obtained a search warrant for the thieves home on Eberle Lane in Grandview. They found machines that can copy checks and counterfeit cash. They ask anyone else who might have been defrauded to call sherriff's deputies.
