Nine Car Crash in Kennewick
KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Washington State Patrol is always telling you to keep your eyes on the road and tonight three separate accidents proved their point. Troopers say there was a four-car, three-car, and a two-car crash, totalling nine wrecked cars.
All the cars were heading into Kennewick off the Blue Bridge. In each accident, cars would try to move over and slow down to get off at the Kennewick exit. They would then be hit by drivers following too close. Two of the accidents happened near the middle of the bridge while the third one happened nearer to the exit. Troopers say accidents like this happen all too often.
Trooper Brian Bond said, "They're travelling too fast and following too close and basically its just driver inattention. Their multi-tasking and their not paying attention ahead of them."
Troopers also encourage people to take a different route going home during rush hour, not the Blue Bridge . Fortunately, in all three of these wrecks no one was seriously injured but troopers say it could have been very different.
