YAKIMA, Wash. - The numbers have been crunched, and overall, it looks like Yakima County had a pretty good year where employment is concerned.
Regional Labor Economist Don Meseck has been watching the job numbers for several years, and says agriculture lost some jobs last year, but gains in industries like construction and health care made up for it.
"I'd call this a very good year." says Meseck. "I suspect 2007 will be a good year too. Not a very good year, though, for the local job market."
Unemployment rates in Yakima County steadily declined after 2003. The unemployment rate averaged 7.2% last year.
