New Anthony's Could be Coming to Columbia Point
RICHLAND, Wash.- Plans for a new Anthony's restaurant in Richland are moving forward after the parks department recommends to lease land to the restaurant.
It will go right next to the current restaurant.
It's not exactly another Anthony's, it would have a grill theme.
The Richland Parks Commission has recommended to city council that Anthony's develop a 1.6 acre triangle of land between the restaurant and entrance to Columbia Point Boat L:launch.
In exchange, Anthony's will give the city about two acres of land somewhere else in Richland. They'll also improve the existing river trail.
The city says it's a win-win for both sides.
"We pick up a little more trailer parking for the boat users, we also will get a pretty significant revenue stream out of the lease that will go into the park reserve fund and can be used for other park improvements in the future," said Bill King with the City of Richland.
Many residents were worried that construction would impact the boat launch, but the city says they've planned things out so that the boat launch and the rest of the park won't be affected.
The city council still has to give final approval after a public hearing on the 20th.
