Sex Offender Runs From Police

KENNEWICK, Wash. - A man overheard he had a warrant out for his arrest and took off.

Kennewick Police said 25-year-old Ronnie Wait Junior was at the Benton County Justice Center registering as a sex offender.

Police said he overheard the county workers saying he had a forgery warrant out for his arrest.

He allegedly took off out the door and ran to GI Joes to hide.  Police said there are a lot of benefits of having sex offenders register.

Kennewick Sergeant Brian Swartswalter said, "It keeps us up to date on their address so if they come up as a suspect in a another case we should have an accurate up to date address for them."

Police said they found the man on a phone at the sporting goods store.  He was taken back to the justice center to finish registering then booked into jail for his forgery warrant.
