Tri-Cities, Wash. - Congressman Doc Hastings supports the President Bush's proposal to send more troops into Iraq and will speak out about it.
Our region has recently lost three servicemen with local ties to our area while they were serving in the war. The family of Marine Sergeant Travis Pfister who died last week northwest of Baghdad said he believed in what he was doing. They said Travis hoped to better the lives of the Iraqis.
Tuesday morning, the House of Representatives is set to speak out against the President's proposal saying they don't want more troops sent to the war zone.
Congressman Hastings wrote on his website "setting a date for the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq is not in the interest of our national security..."
Hastings is expected to speak against the non-binding resolution on the house floor for about four minutes Tuesday morning from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
