Man Survives Six Car Pile-up
Ellensburg - Doug McQueary was driving to work, just like any other day...until he saw something emerge from the fog. A semi truck, a white suv, and a purple sedan were all crushed together in the middle of the road. He can't remember exactly what he ran into, because right after the collision, an even scarier moment occurred. Another semi truck came rushing down the road and slammed through the rest of the accident. He got out of his vehicle just in time.
The incident took place just south of Ellensburg on I-82 east...but it started when a white pick-up truck veered off the road on I-82 west. A truck driver saw flares glowing in the fog that the highway patrol set up. He tried to slow down, but icy conditions caused him to partially slide off the road and jack-knife his truck. The truck then sat in the road as three cars collided with it one after the other...and then the last semi truck plowed through the wreckage.
Nobody was killed in the accident. Looking over the wreckage, Doug McQueary finds it hard to believe that everyone survived. The most serious injuries were suffered by the driver of the white SUV. He had a fractured pelvis, and two fractured legs. The Washington State Patrol considers him lucky. In an accident like this one, the result is often fatal.
