OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Governor Christine Gregoire adds another member to the WSU family. Harold Cochran hopes to use his agricultural background as the new member of the Board of Regents.
Friday, Governor Gregoire appointed Harold Cochran as the 10th member of the Board.
Gregoire says that she believes Cochran's background as a farmer will match perfectly with WSU's agricultural background. Cochran says that because he is still an active wheat farmer, He can provide valuable real world experience. Most of all, Cochran says he believes in the importance of education.
He says, "I believe education is important to our young people. Hopefully, we can make it available to as many people as possible."
Cochran owns a 5,500-acre ranch in Prescott and has served in various positions with Walla Walla High School and Community College. Cochran says he has much to learn but is excited to be a part of making some of the pivotal decisions at the university.
