KENNEWICK, Wash. - Five teens are being investigated for possibly starting a fire on purpose Friday afternoon.
An eyewitness told police teens were setting a small fire near her house on Elm Street in Kennewick.
Police said they received a call minutes later about a fire at Layton Park which is two blocks away. The slide at the playground was on fire.
Police were able to put the fire out with an extinguisher but said this could have easily been a much bigger problem.
Kennewick Police Sergeant Scott Child said, "This is very dangerous. Anytime we get kids playing with a propellant or matches it's always dangerous. Fortunately no one was hurt."
Saturday Kennewick City Workers took the slide down.
Authorities said witnesses identified the teens that were involved but they are still looking for two other boys.
