KENNEWICK, Wash.- Dust is being kicked up in fields around the Badger Canyon area, and with new homes going in, it's causing problems.
It's happening in an alfalfa field near Badger Canyon. Because the seeds haven't sprouted yet, there's nothing to hold down the dirt when the wind comes up, then the dust gets going, and around there, it's a unique situation.
"You have ag fields, touching, actually encroaching upon a development. So people are not really sure, they see the dust, but they're not really sure exactly where it's coming from," said Terry Flores with the Benton Clean Air Authority.
The farm owners are working to control the problem.
Every time the wind starts blowing they are putting water down on it.
They've also put hay down to help control the problem, but the wind's have been so strong lately that it just blows away.
