HEMIT, Calif. -- Marine Sergeant Travis Pfister of Richland was honored in California. The California memorial was held at the Hemet Veteran's Memorial, east of Santa Ana.
A hundred close friends, family and military personnel honored Pfister with the folding of the flag and a 21-gun salute.
Pfister's widow, Jessica delivered a speech for her late husband. Travis' mother, Lori Tallett then recieved the Purple Heart with her husband standing beside her.
At the ceremony, there was a black granite column with a model of the Purple Heart. It included the names of all Hemet military members who have died from World War I to the present.
Travis' mother recieved the folded American flag. Along with family and friends, two to three hundred people stood outside the fence, lending their support.
Next Sunday, March 4th, a memorial service will be held at the TRAC in Pasco at 1 pm.
