Gun Scare at Union Gap School

Union gap - Union Gap School received a scared on Wednesday.  The south wing of the school was put on lock down, after suspicious of a gun on the premises arose.  A twelve year old girl walked up to one of her classmates, and showed him what appeared to be a real gun.

She then told him "If you tell anybody I have this, I'll kill you."

The threatened student was shaken up, but told the school what had happened.  The school called police, who were able to remove the girl from class with no resistance.  They found the gun in her locker.  It turned out to be an air soft pellet gun.

Police say that the threatened child showed courage in telling the school what happened.

"Even having that fear and that threat given to him...the student still felt compelled enough to go to the authorities and report the issue and you have to give it up for that young man." Robert Almeida of the Union Gap Police Department said.

Almeida also praised the school with how they handled the situation.  He says that the incident could have be much more chaotic.
