Minutemen Protest Bank's Policies

Yakima, Wa -  A local group that wants tougher immigration laws staged a protest outside a bank in Yakima this afternoon.

About 20 members of the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps protested outside Bank of America on 40th and Summitview.  The Minutemen say the bank's policies are un-american because they allow customers without a social security number to open accounts and get a credit card after three months.

One of the minutemen protesters - David Lloyd - cut up his Bank of America credit and closed his account after 15-years.

"It allows illegals to establish in this country. I t's costing us lives and it's costing us jobs," says Lloyd.

"They are being racist and I can't support a group like that at all when they're hurting families here that are simply trying to get credit," says David Trujillo, a Bank of America customer who came down to voice his opposing views when he heard about the protest.

The protest lasted for about two hours.  The Minutemen say that other banks allow illegal immigrants to open accounts and they may protest there in the future.
