Business is getting better in downtown Ellensburg, after many stores closed during the last half of 2006.
The executive director of the Ellensburg Downtown Association says their comprehensive plan is working.
Timothy Bishop says many business owners are starting to purchase vacant stores, and this Thursday he said he wants the opportunity to let people know how downtown is progressing.
"We're optimistic that with new owners and some of the new tools that are being put in place, that we are beginning to turn the tide and see some things start to happen in a positive direction," Bishop said.
The EDA is hosting A State of Downtown meeting this Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 in the former Button's building at Fourth and Pine in downtown Ellensburg.
