Pledge Of Allegiance Incident At Richland High School
RICHLAND, Wash. - Our newsroom is alerted to an incident at Richland High School. A teacher allegedly refused to let her students stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.
When we heard a teacher at Richland wouldn't allow her students say the pledge, we immediately got on the phone to find out why.
A district spokesman said the teacher's class was taking a test and she didn't think her students would have enough time to finish. So she had them work through the daily announcements and the pledge. Several students complained. The principal got involved. The teacher was reminded of the importance of the pledge and she admitted her mistake to the students.
Although a district spokesman refused to go on camera, he told us the Richland School District does honor the Pledge of Allegiance as a daily requirement for its students.
