Teacher Talks About Tri-Cities Black History

RICHLAND, Wash. -- As Black History Month wraps up, one Tri-Cities teacher is trying to make sure we don't forget the African American Experience.

Doctor Robert Bauman today reminded people of the segregation that existed in the Tri-Cities during the 1940s.

He says in those days some Tri-Cities housing, restaurants, and movie theatres were segregated.

Dr. Bauman says, "If we don't understand where we came from, we don't know where we are now, we don't have a sense of where we're going in the future.

Bauman says it was through the efforts of ordinary citizens that conditions in our area improved.
