KENNEWICK, Wash. - Sunday afternoon was a sad day for friends and family of Marine Sergeant Travis Pfister.
A memorial service for Pfister was held at the TRAC Sunday afternoon. He was killed in Iraq several weeks ago when his helicopter was shot down.
Thousands of people were in Pasco for the service. Friends and family said the community has provided them with an overwhelming amount of support.
Friends and family filled the TRAC for a special service for Marine Sergeant Travis Pfister.
The Richland native died February 7th in Iraq.
SSgt. Jessica Pfister said, "He went out as a hero and he wouldn't have wanted it any other way, but he was the best husband a girl could ever ask for."
His young wife wept as she spoke about her late husband. The two had been married for more than five years until tragedy struck.
Pfister said, "I'm going to keep him in my memory forever."
Travis's brother Josh said, "I just love him so much and miss him so much."
Marines from all over flew in for Sunday special service. His family thanked everyone for the support in this difficult time.
